EURIX belongs to EURIXGROUP and is a consulting and system integration firm focused on design and development of software solutions based on innovative technologies. EURIX has been a partner in numerous National as well as European projects, including PrestoSPACE, where it was responsible for integrating multimedia tools and solutions for Metadata Access and Delivery and SAPIR where EURIX was principally involved in video content analysis, security and DRM on distributed networks on Peer-to-Peer overlays (DHT). During the past years EURIX has been involved in designing and implementing solutions for wireless sensor networks infrastructures, monitoring environmental parameters (temperatures, humidity, strains...) within schools, historical buildings and museums in Italy. EURIX has been involved in the security aspects of Peer-to-Peer networks developing software solutions for secure digital content distribution and interoperable DRM management in collaboration with Universities and Research Centers, Digital Media in Italy (DMIN.it) and the Digital Media Project (DMP). EURIX is also a member of Institutional bodies like MPEG and GRID-IT network. Recently EURIX has contributed to several MPEG standards and technologies as MPEG Query Format (MPQF, ISO/IEC 15938), MPEG eXtensible Middleware (MXM, ISO/IEC 23006-1,2,3), Advanced IPTv Terminal (AIT, submitted to MPEG), Media Streaming Multimedia Application Format (MAF, ISO/IEC 23000-5).
From 2008-2012 EURIX was involved in the PrestoPRIME project where it was responsible for the design and implementation of the "preservation platform" (P4), integrating the several software components provided by partners.
EURIX’ role in the project will focus on software development and integration activities for the framework as well as for the applications. EURIX will lead WP 8 and will also take the role of the Integration Manager.
Walter Allasia (R&D Manager) graduated in Physics in 1994 at the University of Turin, thesis on design of frontend electronic for nuclear detectors, tested at CERN. During the PhD at the University of Turin he was involved in Alice (CERN, LHC) Environment and in setting up an Interoperable Digital Rights Management Infrastructure on a structured overlay network (DHT). In 1996 he worked at Research Centre of FIAT on software development and monitoring of high power lasers. Joined EURIX in 1997, working as Designer and of Enterprise Object Oriented Applications. After a Sun Certification for Java programming and an OMG Certification for UML Professional he started teaching OOA and Software Modelling for many software companies in Italy, Media Technologies at IUSS Institute (University of Pavia). Since 2001 he is a Professor of Numerical Techniques for Physics at Physic University of Turin. He has been involved in several projects for EURIX including PmetaTools, TorinoWireless, Presto-Space, PrestoPRIME, SAPIR, DMP, DMIN.it. Since 2010, together with Wo Chang (NIST WashingtonDC), he is cochairing the MPEG Multimedia Preservation Ad Hoc Group that is currently setting up novel standards in the field of digital preservation of audiovisual contents.
Francesco Gallo (Project Manager) graduated in Physics in 2001, PhD in Physics in 2004 at the University of Turin. From 2001 to 2006 researcher in computational Nuclear Physics at the University of Turin and member of the BaBar? collaboration, an international experiment hosted at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) in S.Francisco. During his productive research activity, developed tools for Physics analysis making use of Object Oriented Technologies. Since 2006, Manager in EURIX in the field of Enterprise Integration Applications, involved in SAPIR, PrestoPRIME, DMP, DMIN.it.
